WHO DO I THINK I AM

Who do I think I am – writing a blog?  Precisely what I thought.  Who gives a damn what I think.  All I did was discover some old letters, Repair and restore them, scan ALL OF THEM, Transcribe ALL OF THEM, and put them in a book series.  Well, I learned a few things along this journey and thought I could share some insights and maybe expand on the series itself and maybe deep dive into some of the letters.

I’ve learned about antique document handling, repair, and storage.  I’ve learned about the preciousness of a handwritten letter and the value they bring to a family.  I’ve learned a lot about World War 2 and what America was like during that time period.  I’ve learned almost everything I now know about my Uncle because I knew almost nothing.  I’ve learned that it feels really good to accomplish something you never imagined yourself doing.  And I’ve learned that I enjoy talking about it.

If you’ve made it this far I assume you’ve probably read at least part of the book series – and maybe even all of it.  Thank you, I hope you enjoyed it.

I’ve never written a blog before, so forgive me if I’m doing it differently than others, but from what I understand the format is typically loose and conversational.  Perfect for me.  So, for now I’ll do my best to stay in my lane of interest, expertise and general give-a-damness, and try my best to come up with subjects that will hopefully interest and entertain you enough to check back once in a while.

I’ve always enjoyed the subject of History, but to be honest the subject of World War 2 never held any special interest of mine.  I do not claim to be an expert on World War 2.  I’ve learned what I know from the 4 minutes I paid attention in school, and by doing research for the book series.

I figured I’d start these blog posts from the beginning, when I located the letters, and get into the details of how they went from a footlocker in a garage to transcribed on the pages of the book series.  LOL – If you make it thru that boring stuff, I’ll try to come up with some more interesting subjects.

Thank you for reading.
